We’re beyond excited to announce that In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats is taking a bold new step forward this summer at the Barbican. For the first time, our internationally acclaimed VR experience will be presented as a shared multiplayer adventure, allowing groups of up to four people to embark on this immersive journey together.
Running for 74 days from 22 May to 3 August 2025 in The Pit, this world premiere is part of the Barbican’s summer programme, celebrating music and sound alongside Feel the Sound, a groundbreaking multi-sensory exhibition. As we continue to push the boundaries of immersive storytelling, this new version of Beats enables audiences to experience the thrill of the UK’s Acid House movement in a way that truly mirrors the communal spirit of the rave scene.
Since its debut in 2022, In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats has captivated audiences worldwide, transporting them back to the late ‘80s to relive the excitement of finding an underground rave. Until now, this journey has been a solo experience, with individual users navigating the adventure alongside others in the same room. Now, with multiplayer functionality, friends can explore, interact, pass objects, and dance together in the virtual space—bringing the energy and unity of rave culture to life like never before.
Following its Barbican run, In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats will hit the road, touring Warwick Arts Centre in September and Wales Millennium Centre in October, bringing the magic of the movement to even more audiences across the UK.
Tickets for the Barbican run will be available this spring. Stay tuned for updates and get ready to step back in time, together, for an unforgettable journey into the heart of rave culture.
See you on the dancefloor.
